Based on a beautiful farm in West Sussex, Kids Farm Trust hosts camps for charities who work with inner city kids who have difficult lives, to bring them for a much-needed break. We host 8-12 kids, aged 8+ for 3 or 4 days at a time.
Camping is under canvas, cooking on a fire-bowl, eating together around one table either outside, or in a tent, depending on the weather. We provide all the equipment for camping and activities, food, spare clothing and transport needed for the kids to have a wonderful time in the countryside.
We have found that what kids really need to be given is plenty of attention, loving care, good food, to learn new skills, have a lot of fun and the opportunity to discover new things about themselves as they work at building relationships with each other. They get a fresh view of how they can change their lives and new hope for a better future than the one they currently feel destined for.
Activities range from learning about the countryside and nature to cooking and creating art. The kids love rowing on the lake, catching fish, playing games in the woods, performing on the natural stage and playing with our dogs.
It also gives us, the local community, an opportunity to get involved in helping to transform lives.
